Rosecliff After Dark is our signature quarterly salon—an evening where writers gather with Rosecliff agents for a clear, candid conversation about the industry. It’s designed to give writers what they rarely receive: unfiltered insight, meaningful connection, and a moment to feel part of something larger than their own draft.
This is not a class. After Dark blends grounded editorial perspective with the atmosphere of a private salon: focused, warm, intelligent, and deliberately special. Each gathering has its own theme, its own mood, and its own takeaways. We choose subjects that matter—questions writers genuinely carry—because they deserve more honesty and nuance than social platforms allow.
We host After Dark four times a year. Each session includes a teaching segment, live demonstrations, open-floor discussion, and a digital party favor created specifically for that salon. Writers leave with clarity, direction, and a sense of belonging that tends to stay with them long after the hour is over.
What Happens at After Dark
A focused spotlight talk
Each salon opens with a deep dive into a single topic writers want to understand but rarely hear agents discuss clearly. We name the thing, explain the context behind it, and show how it applies to your work.Live demonstrations
We select a few volunteers and edit their query or first page in real time. These demonstrations are direct, specific, and extremely instructive. Even if you’re not in the hot seat, the clarity is transferable to your own writing.Salon conversation
The final portion of the evening is an open-floor discussion—cameras optional, curiosity encouraged—where writers can ask questions, share insights, and build connection. It’s often the most memorable part of the night.A curated party favor

Why We Host This Salon
Publishing can be opaque, and writers often feel isolated, uncertain, or unsure where to focus their energy. After Dark was created to offer transparency, connection, and a grounded space to reset and move forward with confidence.
Every salon is designed to feel like stepping into an insider room without gatekeeping or performance. It’s honest without being harsh, warm without being vague, and structured without being rigid. It is one hour each quarter meant to help writers recalibrate, reconnect, and re-energize their creative work.
Who This Is For
After Dark is for writers who want clear, practical insight into how agents think; a community space that feels warm, serious, and creatively alive; support without overwhelm; and a sense of ritual and glamour in their writing practice. It’s for writers preparing to revise, submit, or reorient their work for the year ahead. All experience levels and genres are welcome.
When It Happens
After Dark meets once per quarter, typically in March, June, September, and December. Dates are announced a few weeks before each salon, along with the topic for that quarter.
Ticket Information
Tickets are $20, and each salon is open to all writers. Because these events take place only four times per year, seats tend to move quickly once announced. Replay access is available for 48 hours after the event.
